Chemistry Personnel

Sonia - grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and attended The Shipley School. In the summer of her junior year, she did research in the Teen Research and Education in Environmental Science (TREES) program under the guidance of Dr. Field. She is enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania as a dual degree student in the Vagelos Integrated Program for Energy Research (VIPER), majoring in both Chemistry and Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. She is currently on a gap year.  In her first semester of her gap year she tutored the SAT and math up to AP Calculus. Now, she is taking Polish classes at The Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Spurred by the ongoing climate crisis, this summer, under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Mindiola, Sonia will work towards the sequestration and functionalization of atmospheric nitrogen. In her free time, Sonia enjoys sewing, knitting, and crocheting clothes for her friends and herself.
