The first terminal vanadium phosphinidene was prepared via an α-hydrogen migration reaction. This molecule exhibits a super short V=P linkage (2.1602(6) Å), and the X-band EPR spectrum reveals superhyperfine coupling of the unpaired to the P nucleus (Aiso = 40 G).
