The Co(I) dinuclear species shown above contains a fragile Co2N2 diamond core capable of rearranging. For example, the complex shown above can activate N2 both as a solid and in solution to afford the topologically linear Co-N≡N-Co core. Under vacuum or argon, the latter expels N2 reorganizing to the bridging mode shown above. For more information about this species: Fout, A. R., etal. Angew. Chem. Int.
