fc6h5cation

The first Ti(IV) fluorobenzene adduct was prepared in our group and was shown to be a superb carboamination catalyst of alkynes with aldimines. This system can also convert α,β-unsaturated imines to triarylsubstituted quinolines. Note in the structure how the electron deficient metal coordinates η5 to the β-diketiminate ancillary framework. The anion B(C6F5)4 has been omitted for clarity. For more information about this species: Basuli, F. and Aneetha, H., etal. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2005, 127, 17992-17993.
