The alkylidene alkyl complex depicted above can experience α-hydrogen abstraction to afford a transient titanium alkylidyne. The complex shown above is perhaps one of the most reactive species prepared in our laboratories. Any solvent it touches it C-H activate it or ring-open it (or both)!
