Our laboratory has created N,N,N' tripodal ligands which can enforce monovalent and divalent oxidation states confined in a tetrahedral geometry. The above structure is a high-spin Co(II) chloride complex supported by this ancillary framework. The Li(I), Fe(II), and Tl(I) structures have been also determined.
